1. It wasn't driven for a long time.
2. I put in a new battery and it started fine for about 1 1/2 days.
3. Went to start it 4 hours after driving to work and it did nothing. Doesn't turn over, doesn't click...
4. It can be started with a jump. Otherwise, when I turn the key all that happens is that the tach needle drops down a little bit.
5. When it does run (after a jump), the ammeter is down to the middle of the low zone.
Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts/leads on what this could be?
Try this..... Get it started, then check the voltage at the Pos (+) bat cable. Should be 13.2 - 14.5 something like that If not get the alternator checked.... Its not putting out to keep up the Battery.
If the voltage is OK then get a good battery!
Check that ALL connections are like new with the battery cables.

If it shows that it is weak, charge for five minutes and then re-test. You will know right off if the battery is any good by the first load test. The battery should show around 12 volts setting by itself and yes, it should be in that 13 to 14.5 volts range when alternator is operating properly. The battery should stay in the "good" range when tested properly. Good luck.
