C60 = C600 gas

D = 330 2V XD FT V8 engine

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

BE8417 = 1978 series number

153 = 153" wheelbase

C = Special White

C602 = C600 gas, 17,000 GVWR

118 = I don't have upholstry info. This combo seems to indicate standard cab without sleeper

A = New Process 435 4 speed transmission

F3 = Eaton model 15201 2 speed rear axle, ratios 6.33/8.81, 15,000 lb capacity

M = Ford 7,000 lb capacity front axle with power steering

17000 = 17,000 lb GVWR

52 = Dallas District Code

If anything doesn't match up, let me know.

Check the wheels. Still some widow makers out there on these. Brake drums are not available, all other brake parts are through NAPA and other sources. Cab stuff is hard to find but billions were served so you can find stuff that way.

Are you married? The wheels will leave your wife cold and alone. You too, but with a healthy covering of dirt.

Post 13 has clear pictures of them, and subsequent posts provide full info regarding them.

It means you won't find a tire shop willing to mount them, ever. Those shops that know how, will know not too and those that don't, can't anyway. It's a type of split rim that has been known to blow apart, frequent enough to get the term widow maker

My boss has been mounting tires since 1993 and has owned his own shop for about 10 of those years. We do things one way and that's the right way.. Since I've been there, he has mounted ONE widow maker himself, and he would not air it up. He put about 20 PSI in it, and gave the owners instructions to connect the air chuck to it, while they were at least 100' away and not in direct line of fire should it let go. They did not want to put a special 22.5" rim on it, as it was a wood truck. We cleaned the rim and just re tubed it. They are still alive, but we also verified the rim was in good enough shape to re assemble, and removed the corrosion with a needle scaler and wire wheel which is important on any split type rim, including the various split ring rims that are mostly safe,

As for your best bet, you'll be able to find a 6 lug 22.5" and tire to match the diameter you need.. It's probably Budd wheels I think.
