Starting to notice pressure dropping significantly on fast take offs. Running at idle I have 63 to 67psi. When I start takeing off it drops steadily. Today I jumped on interstate and WOT. PSI dropped as low as 29 psi. What are your thoughts on why? Spring kit wore out? Hmm
I just put put a new pump in 2 weeks ago. I guess fill me in on how to test.
Evan though there last pump went dead in 7 months.
Could the regulator spring being weak couse that Problem? 😒
A five gallon can of diesel, temporary hoses for supply and return from the rear of the HFCM into the can. If the drop does not continue, there is a delievery iisue between the tank and the HFCM. The same thing that Eric did.
Grammarly has a new version of the software, and it's screwing with my typing. I think I'm correcting spelling, which I need, but it's playing Halloween with words.
I'm not the greatest typer eather.
I just went and took a ride again to see what it will do on a fresh run. High at idle was 67 psi. Only dropped as low as 59 WOT. Settled down a little and did some town driving and stayed in the 62 to 65 range. Evan earlier today at idle or Cruz it would build back to 65. Will do again tomorrow. On another note I am reading a Maxtow digital gauge. Have herd stories about there reliability. Will keep looking. Thinkin I might want to order spring kit.
Will do jug test if necessary.
Last fall my FP was mid 50s at idle and dropping to low 40s at WOT. After doing the 5-gallon temp tank test, replacing the HFCM, dropping the tank, and blowing out all the lines, it turned out to be cracked plunger seal (or whatever you call it) in the fuel pressue regulator.
After all that I'm now in the mid to low 60s and only loose a couple PSI at WOT.
I'm at 67 down to 59, then just out of the blue when I take off she drop to 35 to 40. I let off peddle and it'll shoot back up to 67. I think I'm gonna just put a new Blue spring kit in it just to be safe. With it jumping back up so quick I don't think it's a supply issue.
Well new oem blue spring kit installed. Oring on spring insert was really bad, pic below.
Thank God I didn't have to start the supply diagnostics. No tank test this time. One more thing. I think it took me longer to take out and install that dam air box than it took to do all of the other work. What a pain in the ***. Pour design. I am getting 61psi at idle and down to 56psi at WOT.
not bad I guess.
Curious... How old/how many miles was the blue spring kit you had in there? Was it a Ford kit you put in? I have similar idle numbers but my WOT drops to low 50s and high 40s - maybe the plunger seal needs to be changed more often or there was a bad run of them...? Mine has been in since 2014, but not many miles...
Thanks,
Scott
