Seriously, we need a sticky titled “what is this”. Lol
So. Bought a 78 F350 lariat SC as a parts rig. Super sweet running and driving truck but top rotted off so, parts it is. Looking through, it has most every available Lariat option. One thing that is new to me is the speedometer has a red window below it. Of 40 or so clusters ive never ran across one. Is it emissions related? Because its loaded with those as well.
Never seen that one before, once the cluster is out shine a light from the back side to light up the legend. Now I have seen a LOW FUEL ECONOMY legend before.
The "LOW FUEL ECONOMY" warning light was a one year (1975) only option.
That was kind of a useless option, they should've just wired it to the ignition circuit.
About the only time these trucks get "acceptable" fuel mileage is going downhill with a stiff tailwind!
maybe post the engineering number off of the speedometer...I've seen them on ebay before with a light there...always wondered if they were bronco specific or econoline...
If you can reach up behind it and remove a bulb and try to shine a small light into the back of the speedometer area. You might see what it is or says. Maybe a crazy idea?
or maybe the early econoline diesels had the glow plug indicator light there? just guessing...I couldn't find that engineering number after a quick google search...
