Hey guys I have been searching for the grommet or plug/gasket that goes on the firewall where the brake pedal linkage goes through it. I have looked on LMC and other places and just cant find what I am needing. Anyone know where to find this piece to order? Or would it benefit me to go rummage through the junkyard down the road? Afraid if I found one in a junkyard it would most likely be dry rotted. Thanks in advance for any help and advice. Looking for the oval gasket that goes where brake linkage is going through firewall

There is a nylon bushing on each end of this rod. Over time, the bushings crack apart/disintegrate, the 90 degree ends of the rod begin to crack, eventually snap off.

Be aware that if the ends of this rod snap off, there are none available NOS and it's not reproduced!

Bill, good point on the bushings and rod breakage...
The rod is a PITA to get off at the top.. it's worth replacing the bushings and inspecting the rod for cracks.
