Radiator source for a 65

It seems the radiator (which is not original based on how it rattles around) in my '65 F250 is cracked and leaking badly. However, based on my research in this forum and others, the radiator and radiator support for a 1965 is different from a 61/64 and from a 66. Also the radiator for a 352 is different than the other engine options, so I'm having a bear of a time finding one that isn't $1000.

Anyone have suggestions of where I could look? Or do I just need to break out the credit card? Thanks.

Similar to JackDerby, I installed Champion alum radiator. Years ago I had modified a mid '70s truck radiator since it was a bit bigger and gave me a shroud as well. 6 inches taller times 3 rows, you do the math. My aluminum replacement was for same application. Only slight modification was needed.

Bottom of the mounting flange needs to be notched a bit to clear frame rails, etc. Mostly on the driver's side.

Jack,

Thanks for the information. Do you have an FE in your truck? The dimensions are correct, but I need the radiator outlet on the driver's side. I'll give them a call to see if they have something that will fit.

The FE uses passenger side outlet.

Mine has an passenger side inlet coming from the thermostat housing and a driver side outlet heading to the water pump.

You are correct the FE uses drivers side outlet. Have you looked for a radiator shop in your area? Those things can be re-cored or repaired. Also it is possible to have a radiator shop transfer the mounting flanges from your current radiator to another radiator that is otherwise correct for your truck. I would stick with a brass radiator if possible, remember the OEM's only changed to aluminum because it was lighter and cheaper not because it was better.

I have the FE my radiator is a champion and works great.

I also have my old radiator I can part with it if you’d like for dirt cheap and you also cover shipping but I will tell you that if you do your research on this sight you’re gonna find great things about these radiators so you might as well dive in and pick one up.

66ordie,

Do you happen to know the model # of the Champion radiator you put in yours? Thanks.

1965 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD radiators have their mounting flanges in a different location than 1966/79 radiators.

The radiator support for these trucks (C6TZ-16138-C) is obsolete, not reproduced.
