So this morning I hear a noise out front as I'm working on the house windows on the side of my house.
Go around front to see whats going on see a silver van parked next to my truck in the street. So I start running out to the truck, thinking they are stealing the new power steps I just put on, only to find 2 tweakers under the truck cutting out my Catalytic converter.
So I start yelling at them to scare them and also to alert my neighbors that something is going on. Winds up there were 2 more tweaker sitting in the front seats of the van. As they 2 are scrambling to get in the van, I slam one of them with the door. I'm still yelling trying to get someone to call the police and come out and help me.
I did get my phone out in time to get a good picture of the van and plates before they got away. They didn't get the cat though as they left it laying under the truck. If I was a bit slower, they would have had it. Cops said the plates were from Bakersfield, Calif. I live in Oxnard. so they were a ways from home. Also just noticed the plates expired in june of '19, 2 years ago.

So now I have to find a shop to try and weld the old cat back on, or find a new cat.
Does anyone make a high flow cat that is CARB legal?
Hi COS! Completely understand your "furry" !!! IMHO, the cat can almost 99% of the time be reinstalled. I'm sure that you have and can find by recommendation from a real car person (hot rodder type) a good old fashion muffler shop close to you. If not, although it's a little bit of a drive, San Pedro muffler (yes in pedro) is an excellent shop, Tom who has it now (for 10+ years) is the son of the original owner. As far as replacement cats go, there is really no such thing as "High Flow Cats".... it is all PR nothing more, nothing less...The myth about high flow cats

Car Sound makes IMHO the best aftermarket cat you can buy (although there is not much of a choice of mfg's if you know what I mean) and yes they are CARB approved. You can buy them direct (IIRR) but they are also the mfg for Magnaflow.
Doing some searching, I found the magnaflow ones.
I'm going to see if one of my local shops can weld it back on tomorrow to get me back on the road for now.

Keeping fingers crossed for you....let us know how it turns out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man that is crazy! I live in NC and had a couple old cats that i took to the scrap yard when I scrapped an old car. At first they wouldn't accept the cats but finally decided they would when i said they cam off the scrapped car. The amount of paperwork was insane AND they fingerprinted me well! then the final cudegra was they gave me a whopping $5.00 per cat. All the crap for $10.00.

Makes you wonder what the fools are getting for them on the black market?? Wait---is that politically incorrect, should I change it to "people of color market" instead?
