Hey everybody, a new member here looking for some help with fuel injectors. We (my son and I) are about to pull the 5.0 out of his '91 F150 and send it off to the machine shop. We're going with the Comp 35-512-8 cam and will be installing long tube headers. These are the only mods being done to this engine. My question is two parts. What flow rate injectors work best for this application? Part two is what brand and where should I buy? There are Motorcraft on Rockauto for $130 each, sets of "Bosch" on ebay for $50, and everything in between. Just need a little guidance here and some input from people with previous experiences with these products. Thanks!
You cannot use "larger" injectors with the stock computer. Stock 19lb injectors should be more than adequate.
As far as brand... It would be nice if new Bosch was still available. I am running BWD's which is now Standard because they had a lifetime warranty. Otherwise I would use Motorcraft. Rebuilt units could be great, just depends on the workmanship but I wouldn't buy them off Ebay. There could be a shop near you that provides that service.
As a rule, I recommend Ford or Motorcraft parts whenever possible, assuming you aren't running the truck to failure. You can get bad parts out of the box, but it is far less common with Ford/Motorcraft than with aftermarket. After that I buy the best warranty I can.
I do not have the old injectors. Should have done this research before ditching them. Lesson learned there. I've tried to stick with Motorcraft parts since this project started. Just wanting to see what others have used and had good results with as the Motorcraft injectors are pricey!
Southbay fuel injectors. You will need 19lb injectors. They have rebuilds of the Bosch 0280150943, 0280150556 any of those 2 will work or a design 3 injectors 0280155700. Ask for Julie or Frank tell them Gonzo sent you.
Those are just shy of 19 lbs but will work just fine. You wont be disappointed.
For the OP Southbay may have a better price.. Give them a call tell them Gonzo sent you.
