Finally driving my '01 F350 a bit and started having slow 2-3 shifts. Took a drive to help a friend who was about 2 hrs away. After about an hour of backroads driving with no issue, I pulled onto a 70mph highway, and it wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Hazards on, pulled to the side and crept along in 2nd. (Kept rpms under 2500.) Longest 5 miles to the next exit ever! Fairly heavy traffic of course. Pulled off and let it sit for a few minutes. Checked fluids, etc., and saw no issue. Cranked back up and drove the rest of the way there and back with only a slow shift. Got home and reverse started to slow down, too.
Pulled out the accumulator valve body today, and have two broken springs. Easy cheap fix, so I'm happy. Except that I have to order the springs.
Anybody know of a local source for accumulator springs? (Sanford/Raleigh NC area) I'm not expecting Sunday, but tomorrow would be great. I guess I can call the dealership in the morning.
My local auto parts store gets their transmission parts from a supplier who also sells to the public. I’m not in your area but believe it was Transtar.
Search for transmission parts on google or ask one of the locally owned part stores.
