Looking for a picture if anyone has one, and a source or idea to seal a firewall hole.
looking under the dash a couple inches up and to the right of the gas pedal is a 1 1/2”x3” oval that’s open on my truck, it flanges inwards towards the cab. I assume it’s supposed to be sealed by a rubber grommet, but I’m not for sure.
also, any idea where I can find whatever it is that covers it? I’m pretty handy with metal, I could probably make a plate to cover it, but I’m trying to take the easy route. Thanks all!
They could, but I’m worried because it’s a rolled lip it wouldn’t work like a regular grommet. Kinda wondering if it was a plate, but can’t see any mounting holes for screws.
Could you maybe just stick a piece of sheet metal over it using some weather adhesive on the side that is flattest..and maybe a few pop rivets if need be..
I wonder if the Bronco Graveyard could get the part for you. Not sure if Bill on here ( Number Dummy ) would be able to come up with a part number for you..
I want to say that is where the wires came thru for the computer on the feed back system trucks.
I am sure it was posted before how to seal this hole, maybe do a search for it?

Yep. A lot of trucks have this hole with a solid grommet in it so for anyone else looking for one, they are readily available in junkyards.
In reverse, if you are adding a lot of aftermarket wiring you can take the grommet from a truck with the computer, remove the wires from it and reuse without having to drill a hole or poke wires through the speedometer or hood release holes.
The hole in the firewall started when computers were installed in these trucks, maybe 1983, not really sure. This type of grommet (shown in the link above) was used in a non-computer truck that still used DS2 ignition system. It is a rare junk yard find. Black duck tape is easier to find .

I know this thread is old but I think I found what you're looking for and you can get them new
Thank you lol, I'm actually looking for one of these too and if it wasn't for the OP starting this thread I wouldn't have researched trying to find one
