I was told the cooler and set up minus adapter were the same for 1968.

At this point I would consider any C8 setup that was used in a truck. Especially a complete one.

I already looked this up, but am waiting for others to chime in before I burst the OP's bubble.

Very unsure what you are asking, especially when you don't give the model or engine.

Burst what bubble just needing a cooler for a beater, lol.

I have a f100 with a 352. Was told that f600s and larger trucks had coolers.

Engine oil adapter, 2 lines, cooler, upper and lower brackets, nuts and bolts.

The only optional (accessory) oil coolers that Ford offered were for automatic transmissions. There was no accessory engine oil cooler.

There was an engine oil cooler that was standard equipment, but only for 1958/81 401/477/534 Super Duty engines installed in 850 and larger series trucks.

D6HZ-6A642-A (replaced B8TZ-6A642-A) .. Engine Oil Cooler / Obsolete

6 available NOS: 2 D6HZ's & 4 B8TZ's.

To have a engine cooler it doesn't really matter what it originated on, right? Correct me if I am wrong.

I am just wanting the '68.

With what you said I am then looking for a 1968 SD eng cooler from a f800, right?

And NumberD thanks for the info.

It will not fit a 352 or any other FE engine, a 289, 460 or Wombat X8. It will only fit a 401/477 or 534 engine.

The engine adapter is the only thing that wouldn't fit.

I have an adapter, I need that rest.

What about a Cobra Jet mustang oil cooler set up? Pricey, but I'm sure you could build something out of parts and pieces to work.
How about just a remote oil filter set up, like I have. I have the oil filters down in the air stream under the front bumper. I'm sure on the highway it does cool the oil a few degrees.

Why do you think you need an oil cooler?

Oil cooler source alternative

If you are lucky enough to find a pre 93 Ford CV police car that the cooler and lines are still present grab it. Be sure to get the adapter fitting off the block also. The hoses are very good quality and can be shortened, the fittings are re usable. The cooler is located on the right side of the radiator support and the lines loop under to the engine oil filter adapter.
Number Dummy should have the parts page and numbers.

If you have an adapter then why not buy a new oil cooler and lines? You don't use used oil coolers or lines as a rule. Still curious what adapter you have and how you plan on installing the filter if it's a sandwich adapter. You can procure 3/4×16 filter adapter from the aftermarket and make your own system. I will say there is little need for a oil cooler, can be damaging if oil temperature isn't held at proper temp. On a stock or lightly modified engine you will never exceed the flash point of a modern oil. You will have engine destruction before you exceed oil temperature.
