the only things that don't work in my explorer is the radio(no speakers), the rear wipers, bad fuel pump. the rest is cosmetic the clear coat is failing. i have a wiring diagram but i cannot find the wiring diagram for the rear wipers. oh yeah, i also need to fix the drivers' side door hinge, i have the pin just need a few minutes to fix it. does anyone out on the internet have the wiring diagram and test procedure for the rear wipers?
I don't have the service manual for 1991, but do have the 1992 service manual. Maybe the liftgate wiper schematic is similar enough? 1992 Explorer Liftgate Wiper/Washer
man, there are a lot of connectors on this system. the washer pump works just the wiper motor doesn't. so i have my work cut out for me. i need to find the liftgate disable switch and bypass it if i want to check it with the liftgate up. if i apply power to the black/pink wire and ground the black wire it should twitch or do something unless it is toast. and buying a used one is a crapshoot. thanks for the diagram now i know what it is called i might be able to order parts. i was looking all over for the rear wiper and couldn't find it.
You may want to start by making sure the disable switch is closing (electrically) when the liftgate is closed. Location of the rear wiper disable switch for the 1992 model year:
got it. i took it all apart and chased the problem to two things . 1. a bad wiper motor and 2. a disconnected connector upfront by the ECM. i found a new reman wiper motor for 150 bucks, i guess it will stay broken for awhile. but i did find a 91 eddie at the wrecking yard that had a bunch of new parts on it, like the drivers side door handle coil pack, crank sensor, air box lower half, and a few connectors as well. i ran out of money to get the wiper motor.
