Have a 1994 F-150 5.0 and all the sudden all of my gauges stopped working the speedometer and the odometer work but not the gas gauge or the temperature for oil pressure and I have a beep when I start it 55 * the three sets and then it goes off can you please help what's the problem
You may have lost the connection to ground G200, The beeping Code 55 is from the Air Bag module that also uses ground G200. Also check Fuse 17 which supplies power to the instrument cluster, which contains the Air Bag bulb. An open bulb, or open fuse, will trigger Air Bag Code 55.
G200 is located behind the passenger side kick panel courtesy of Subford
Nope that's not it...checked it and it seems to be intact
Don't take this the wrong way, but, Did you look at and it looked OK? Or did you loosen it and clean the connection and reassemble... Those have a bad habit of looking good and not working worth a damn.....
I checked all fuses...all good....and no I didn't take off ground and clean it still try that.....and as far as taking it the wrong way....if I knew wat I was doing I might....but in this case I dont... so feel free to suggest anything....lol. thanks
Then why does my 1994 EVTM show the Voltmeter (60-1), Anti-Theft lamps (60-3) use ground G200? The Illumination bulbs, High Beam and Fasten Seat Belt, Turn signal bulbs use ground 201? (60-4) The only thing I see that uses ground G100 via C101 is the Tachometer (gas engine 60-5).
I now do see the PSOM also uses G200, but what about the diagrams I referenced above stating they also use G200?
Given the above scenario that's why I also stated to check Fuse 17? It may be good, but is power getting to the instrument cluster?
I was looking at the 1994 EVTM also in the grounds area (sec 10).
The wiring diagrams show the voltmeter grounded by G200 but not any other gauges.
The ground wire of the other gauges does not seem to go anywhere in sec 60.
The wiring diagrams also say SEE GROUNDS so that is where I was looking.
I will pull out the large 1994 diagrams and see where they go for sure.
That will take a little while.
No worries Bill. We know sometimes the EVTM diagrams have errors. I thought for sure this time I had the bases covered, but as always there seems to be caveats.
The 1994 large fold out that the EVTM's are made from shows wire 570 as the "UNIQUE GROUND TO GAUGES".
They show the ground point but do not say where it is located or its ground number. So who made up the 1994 EVTM would have had to guess where that point is.
The 1996 EVTM says that gauges are grounded at G201 with wire number 57.
So just check all three of those ground points and you should have it covered.
