Do I need a fuel pump?
Tuesday was driving on hwy and suddenly it just quit. Wouldn't start, just crank over. Plenty of gas in each tank.
Had it towed home and worked on it yesterday.
Only codes were two saying temp sensors weren't up to warm, and the same EGR and O2 sensor codes I've always had.
Laying under truck I can hear all three pumps prime 2 seconds when turn key to on.
When I push the valve stem on the gas pressure testing point on the engine it just has minor gas, no spray.
When I disconnect hose from frame mounted pump to fuel filter I get fuel running out the filter, I guess from the plumbing up to engine.
When I turn key to ON there is noise from pump but very little gas coming out the hose. If I plug hose with my finger and turn key to ON there is no pressure to blow my finger away.
So, does it sound like the high pressure pump fail that way ?
Does Rockauto have decent pump and price?
Local NAPA can get a Bosch for $150. Is that a better way to go?
Should have pretty close to battery voltage when the key is turned on. Anything more than say a 1 or 2 volt drop and I would be looking at the relay and/or wiring.
But yeah, it's probably the pump. I just don't like saving time. Always spend twice as much time fiddling around with stuff first!

Good luck.
Paul
