I have a pair of JBL components I am putting in the front of my F150. Can you just swap the speakers and use the factory bass blockers and not the JBL crossovers? Eventually I will use them when I add my amp, but looking for short term...
I installed some JBL 5x7s in the front doors of my 2012 F150, just cut the old connectors off the speakers, then soldered them to the new JBLs, they sound great, didn’t touch any other wiring.
You all swap head units out? Which factory radio do you have? I’ve got the Sony in my 2014 Lariat and am really, really unhappy with the factory system. Just wondering if upgrading the speakers will do anything without diving it more power.

The OEM door speakers are 5X7s? I've been wanting to change mine out because they occasionaly act like they are blown, vibrate with slightest bass. OEM stereo and I have never had volume above 18 level. The dealer supposedly replaced the door spaaker after test drive and prior to purchase. Thanks for the info, another thing I can obtain during the quarantine.
Update 6-5-20: I used wiring adapters from Metra with Kenwood 5x7s (Amazon <$100) and replaced all 4 door speakers on my SCrew. The adapters made it "plug & play". Many YouTube videos show the location of the screws are as well as connectors made the total process about 3hrs.

The factory speakers are actually 6x8, but pretty much all the aftermarket 5x7s have the correct mounting pattern, found that out after trying to find aftermarket speakers in the factory size. They exist, but are quite pricy. My pair of JBL 5x7s were $150 cdn taxes paid with 5 years of warranty.
