My clutch equalizer shaft (7RT-7503) is worn on one side of the bushing face. From doing some reading, it appears to be a common issue. However, all the threads involved people trying to find new replacements.
It seems as though there aren't any NOS or reproductions. Has anyone actually tried to repair theirs? I'm thinking it could be repaired by a machine shop by welding up the worn metal and then milling it.. Or perhaps enlarging the entire bore and inserting a steel sleeve. Just looking to see if anyone has any tried and true method.
Is it worn out of round? Hard to tell. The end and outer surface really don't matter, as long as the hole is reasonably round and the bushings inside are good.
I tried to take some photos with the micrometer, but it didn't come out very clear.
The inside measures .997 all the way around. However, there is wear in the last 1/4" towards the open end. Vertically it measures around 1.000, and horizontally 1.050. So it's about .050" out of round. Not terrible, but enough to tell without having to measure. The wear is isolated to one side.
Lots of good advice above. You might get a new bronze bushing for it and see if it takes up enough slack to be functional. They don't move much or very often. I don't know what your plans are for the truck.
