FFS - the ones I bought from Autozone were fakes for sure. Maybe this is part of my ongoing issues....
Sorry to hear that--I'd bought 10 or so COP's, probably 24 spark plugs through the internet so naturally that video had me worried just a bit.
If you were sold parts that claimed to be Motorcraft and still have the original receipt I'd return them and pretty much demand a price adjustment or full refund. I'm okay spending money as long as I'm getting what I want--in this case authentic Ford or Motorcraft parts.
I recently bought quite a few COP's through Amazon and wondered if I'd received the right stuff--turns out I did. By sheer luck I'd bought from one of the seller's Brian cites as being trustworthy.
Watching that video will show if your COP's are real or fakes.
Well according to the video mine are the REAL ones or fakes he did not cover. I bought mine from Rock Auto and paid more than the other ones that were listed.

The video shows a few different ways to verify we have authentic parts especially regarding plugs or COP's. Any outlet outside a Ford dealer would be subject to receiving fake parts would be my guess.

I recently bought 10 Motorcraft plugs and cops from Rockauto. And then I found Brian's, Techmakulco's video. Oh boy, did I get burned? Brian did mention that when he bought MC parts from Rockauto they were authentic at the time he bought them. But do not know how many year ago that was.
In my case the plugs all passed the test. On the COP's, I looked at all the areas in Brian's video there is only 1 difference from all the ones Brian pointed out on the COP's. These did not have the marker strike across coil pack connector on the COP. But, I'm not sure that marker strike mark comes from every authorized Motorcraft plant. My original 2004 COPs had the strike mark. In 2012 I bought 10 MC cops direct from a large Ford dealer, they did not have the marker strike either but had all the rest of the markings Brian pointed out. As for the marker strike, it may be that where Brian gets all his MC parts from that plant uses the marker strike in the manufacturing process. But not used in all other plants. There is not just one Motorcraft plant to service all the needs.
Did yours have the tiny FOMOCO symbol molded into the COP? it is buried in the webbing in tiny symbol. May need a magnify glass to see it.
