About 2 weeks ago I pull out of the gas station. The truck does what its supposed to. Then suddenly locks up in the middle of road for about half a second then releases I guess you'd say. I was a quarter mile from my house , so I just drove it on. I noticed then that it took a lot longer for it to shift out of 1st..and maybe 2nd. The next day I go to check it out and no reverse. Like its in neutral.
What's my plan of attack? I can work on cars but know nothing about transmissions.
Thank you

Reason: Poor grammar
Assuming it's automatic. Reverse is usually one of the first things to go in an auto when it's time for a rebuild, in my experience. Try topping up fluid; if fluid level is OK you're probably looking at a rebuild. Take it to a transmission shop (not general mechanic - they'll just outsource it and mark it up - find a dedicated transmission shop). They'll be able to guide you.
One of the reasons I have a manual is because domestic automatics need servicing about every 100K unless you absolutely baby them all the time,
