Highboys with High pinion Axle ???

Have any of you guys gone the route and installed a Dana 60
High pinion into your highboys. I recently installed one in my 76 F250 Highboy and have found that the front diff yoke hits my Headmen headers. I currently have a 360 Fe motor and C6. If any of you guys are running an Fe powered high boy with a High pinion Front diff , what kind of headers do you guys use. Its almost winter and i have to get my 4 wheel up and running. Thanks For any help

Do you have fenderwell exit or under frame exit? Fenderwell exit might help you out. Otherwise you might try 2wd headers.

Headers

I,m running 4 wheel drive headers. I gonna put my old ones back on this weekend (dynomax ) and see if they fit any better. I checked L and L but they only sell stuff for the 429/460 conversion. Oh and they are chassis exit.

On a hiboy I only use fenderwell exit because the way the crossmembers are, the only way to run the exhaust it hangs down and looks tacky. Just get some fenderwell exits headers and make your life alot easier.

There is a company that makes shorty headers for an FE but I can't for the life of me remember who they are. I believe it's more of a street rod oriented company but the headers should still work. Try doing an internet search.

A low pinion Dana 44hd in the front and a Dana 60 in the rear. This applies to the f250. I believe the F150 came with the Dana 44 in the front and a 9 inch in the back.

Is the 44HD worth cutting to put under my CJ? In your opinion.

Personally you might want to see if you can find a high pinion one. With a low pinion you may have to much of an angle to put a driveshaft in or may experience severe u jouint angles that can cause breakage or parts to wear out to fast especially on such a short wheel base vechicle. Also you will be changing to an eight lug spindle and you may have to carry two spares if you dont have a rearend with eight lugs. Also by cutting it down your going to need to shorten your tierods and axle shafts. So before you go ahead and cut it, check out what you will spend in new axles and tierods plus what its going to cost to have in shortened, you may be better off ordering one from a company such as Dana trac or currie enterprises.

For a jeep you might want to check out the scout or bronco dana's. The bronco (71-77?) had the same high pinion but was much narrower.
