Nah, you'd be surprised how many people think they can get shocked by car batteries.I almost dare say more people probably do than they don't.
I joke, but that really is serious with the sticking your tongue on it.You really can feel the electricity in 12v DC with your tongue.
Ain't even one of y'all ever been shocked by a 12 volt battery!? Wow.... I have. It was raining, I had one hand on the chassis somewhere and touched a +12V circuit with my other hand. Ouch. Didn't really hurt but you bet I yanked my hand away from it due to the current path potentially crossing my heart. Bonehead move... never put a potential (voltage) across two hands, feet, etc.
And on a separate note...

This is a myth, and a potentially dangerous one at that. The truth of the matter is that electricity will take ALL paths available to it. The path having the least resistance will be made to carry the most current and the path having the most resistance will be made to carry the least current. It's inversely proportional. If this wasn't the case then things like potentiometers, voltage dividers and resistor networks wouldn't work at all. So... be safe and make sure you NEVER become part of a circuit!
even 50KV from the coil in most cases will not Kill you as the Current is too Low... why you think a Taser don't kill.... AHHH but it can under the right circumstances

I second this motion. I get shocked a lot by 12v systems, about half the time it just burns me. I do have a habit of laying an arm on the battery when I'm working under the hood though. One arm across the battery will do it everytime, but one on the fender, other on the pos does it as well, only feel it where you're touching and it takes a couple of seconds for me to realize what's actually happening. I've always heard you can't get shocked by 12v, and maybe some of you can't, but I surely can.
some folks are more sensitive to getting shocked at lower Potential than others.... different folks have different skin resistance ... if you are all sweaty then you will have lower resistance and be more prone to a shock.... even a 1.5 Volt battery can shock you under the right circumstances..... but will it kill you.. probably not
