I have a 76’ highboy and am finally getting back to working on it. The truck is basically original. I’M guessing the cab lights are original or dealer installed so the lenses are pretty cracked and one is missing. I’d like to find replacement lenses to retain the original lights but I haven’t been able to find an option short of buying the whole light. They are “ Yankee 77” brand and I assume out of business. Any help locating new lenses that would fit these original lights would be greatly appropriated
Funny seeing this topic, I was just telling myself a couple hours ago that I need to get back to this particular project myself. My 77 F-150 has some pretty rotten cab lights on it and I wanted some new ones. I'll tell you what I'm doing to "fix" this issue.
My lights appear to be OE as well, they have tags on the wiring with Ford all over them. I was able to source a cheap set of cab lights from Amazon that perfectly match what was on the truck, except the opening where the bulb plugs in. The opening is shaped smaller than it needs to be to fit the factory plugs, so I'm going to take out a small rotary tool, such as a Dremel, and open them up and they should fit my factory lighting just perfectly. The set I bought came with it's own harness that you can splice into the factory one, but I'm trying to avoid modifying the wiring. Otherwise all you'd have to do is make a couple of cuts and a few crimps and you can use what came with the set.
I unfortunately didn't take a shot of the new cab light's opening, but maybe I can take a pic later if I remember to. I'm just linking pics I took a long time ago back when I got these. I've been slacking.
My research shows they changed from the early style lights to the later style lights in the above pictures during the '76 model year. I don't know when but either are correct. I don't know where you get parts for the earlier style maybe on ebay.
Yeah, I just googled the Yankee 77 lights and they definitely look quite a bit different. The originals off mine say Truck Lite on the back. I'm not sure if they're been replaced once or if Truck Lite supplied the originals for Ford. Might have to do some google searching to kill some time tonight.
Yes I have the earlier chrome base with amber lens style. It looks like there maybe some new ones that look very similar not sure if the lenses would be a direct replacement. Of course I’d need to buy the whole assembly opposed to separate lenses
Another website I found has some that look like the lights you're looking for. You'll have to scroll down to see them. They have an email at the top of the page, maybe you can send them an email and see if they can sell you just the lens and not the entire housing. Worth a shot.
Thanx Doosenberry, I did see those lights from China on eBay looks like I might have to roll the dice on those and hope the lenses match up to the old bases
Yeah, no problem! I was trying to do what you're doing with mine. I just wanted the lenses for mine, but in my case the whole light is one piece. Hopefully something works out for you!
I'm not clear on what the Yankee 77 brand light base looks like and whether you need a full amber lens of only the smaller front lens, but if they're full teardrop style you can go the route of picking up a cheap set from harbor freight. https://www.harborfreight.com/mercha...-pc-64988.html
This is what I did to replace the cracked and faded amber lenses on my 75 F-250.
I only used the lenses/gaskets and threw everything else from the kit away.

I believe they look like this, which is a bit more pointed than the ones you linked. They are available NOS on Ebay, but they are certainly not cheap if he goes that route. Those HF lights certainly wouldn't be bad if originality wasn't a concern. Definitely inexpensive.
These are the ones I used when I replaced my factory cab lights on my 97 F350. Looks identical to the OEM factory lights that were on my truck! Great price and quality!! I remember another FTE member using them on the dentside trucks as well. Might go check them out!? One of the reviews was by a guy replacing his on a 78 Ford truck!
Thanks Scott but I think I’m gonna stay with the old chrome and amber original Yankee 77s. I used to hate them but they’ve grown on me. My 16 yo son is in love with this truck and surprisingly wants it to stay as original looking as possible. He’s one of the few gear heads his age these days that are into old stuff. His Mom’s Grandfather bought the truck new and she spent a lot of time traveling and camping in it as a kid.
Sometimes with items like this, you might want to just bite the bullet and buy a set of NOS Yankee 77's. Or if you're in no hurry, maybe keep scouring the classifieds or eeBay until you find a set at reasonable price. Some things are nice to just buy outright, get them and be done with endless searching etc.
I see a number of listings on fleeBay right now (mostly complete lights w/lenses). I also happen to notice that these Yankee lamps also came in different colors too which is kinda cool. Besides amber/orange, I also see red ones and green lenses too. I also saw that the previous version/model "Yankee 76" lights came in amber + red + green and white. I wonder if the Yankee 77 also came in white too? Might be kinda fun to put some colored lights on the cab each year during the holidays!
Anyway I hope you find the clearance marker lights you're looking for!
An option to consider. Check out the 2017/18 Ford Super Duty amber roof clearance marker LED lights, I used them to replace my 77 F-150 OEM lights. I like the OEM Yankee roof clearance marker lights, but couldn't find good condition OEM replacements, so I went with the 2018 LED lights, and they cast a good amber shadow on my antenna, plus IMP I think they look good.
Note the 2017/18 Ford OEM amber LED roof marker clearance lights use one hole in the center of the light, not two holes like the OEM Yankee lights and a slightly larger hole to enable the the wiring connector to mate into the light socket. Think I paid around $34. a piece from my local Ford Dealer.
