I have been wanting to install a tach on my '84.
Are there recommended shift points for the 6.9? The owners manual lists them for the gas burners for each trans but nothing for the diesel. The supplement diesel manual says nothing pertaining to this.
Also what are the fast and slow idle speeds.
No need to install a tach just to watch the needle move.
All the info on my truck should be in my signature.
No recommended per se that im aware of, peak torque is 1400, peak horsepower is 3000. Low idle is 750, high idle is 3600 no load, 3300 loaded. Normal driving i shift around 2k, loaded or "spririted" 3k, depending on what i need. I wouldnt load the engine excessively under 1200 rpm. Hope i answered some of your questions. As far as BSFC ive looked, never found much, but imo they get the best mileage running 1600-1800rpm or 2600-3k. I personally never get good mileage running in the middle, with either of my IDIs
High idle 3600, dang, truck would be screaming to warm up. Im assuming you were talking red line.
No he was correct High Idle is where the IP is against the Governor..... this is Called High Idle by Stanadyne.
There is a Cold Idle solenoid on the outside of the pump that can be adjusted ... and there is a Cold Advance solenoid inside the Pump that you really cannot adjust.
Anyway Cold Idle can be set between 900 and 1200 RPM. I normally go for 1000 RPM
