‘05 lariat 6.00... recently bought and has old batteries. Truck has been cranking slightly slower this past week or two in cool (low about 40*) Florida weather. Going to look at Exide batteries and wondering either what size/ratings or where I can get an owners manual w that info. My attempts at searching for correct battery here in the Tech pages failed likely due to operator error.
Use the right size for best results but that doesn't mean you have to use the most expensive battery. What I starting doing after being dissatisfied with the way batteries are warranted is by buying the 1 or 2 year warrantied batteries at Walmart and haven't had a falure yet and if I do out of their short warranty period I'm money ahead after figuring in the pro rating for long warranties on most batteries. They are the same batteries just a shorter warranty.
Optima Yellow Top has served me well. It was 19F this morning and spun the motor just fine (also 5 year old battery). I have used these in my Jeeps too with great success.
Been buying All my batterys at Costco, full 42 month warranty for new replacement if they fail.
@Rod Jr. I just purchased a Interstate Group 65 from Costco within the last couple weeks. The warranty is now rated at 36months. They're cheaper then most at $99+tax+$15 core though.
@TooManyToys. Has some good information regarding helping the batteries by adding a ground. Check for his threads.

Im running optima in my truck (yellow and red) and a red top in the wifes car. It wasn't 19f this morning at my house but it been very reliable
No Costco near me (which really sucks - I used to live in Kirkland, WA....)
Previous owner put in wrong anti freeze, and there are two different brands of batteries under the hood....
*** Too Many Toys (should it be Too Many Brain Cells?) - will try the second ground (hijacking my own thread: ) will that extra ground also improve computer life?) ***
|Can get a good price on Exides... will check Irish.
Since not a crtical 'soon' may wait to see what the post XMas sales have in store.
When walmart had Johnson Controls as the supplier for their batteries, You basically bought an Interstate, Motorcraft, Diehard, Etc. just different name and I never had a problem.
Last may when my truck was stolen, They removed the batteries I bought that previous October. Both tested above rated CCA, were sequential serial numbers, built that same month, with 5 year warranty for less than $200 out the door. I always test batteries before I leave.
After the recovery, I limped along for 6 months on 2 different batteries until one began killing the other.
Just recently went to replace them to find out it appears Exide is now the supplier. Same warranty and price.
We'll see how they hold up.
Was surprised that most of the battery warranties have been shortened so much and prices are crazy. But when you have people buying phones for a grand every year what do you expect. The last 3 Walmart batteries I have had made it 23 months on 24 month warrantee.
