Before replacing Glow Pugs and new valve cover gasket truck would start and run. I did however wash the engine while it was running. Before I replaced the glow plugs for obvious reasons. This truck has 480,000 miles. It tries to start but just hits and smokes. I did buy the zd11 glow plugs. When I say smokes it smokes like a freight train while trying to start the truck. Any suggestions? Btw no codes , hooked up my snap on Modis edge.

Relay is good , temp is 45 , batt are 850’s new, I’m in southern il
Wahsing the engine always leads to trouble with sensors that have the seal compromised. Blow dry those sensors and anything electrical.
I replaced sensor and the pigtail with factory ford sensor . Still won’t start still has the same code. I’m guessin the wiring will have to be gone through unless someone points me in a different direction.
Maybe one of the wires is crushed between the vc and head. Check that out. Ohm the injectors and GP, .8-1.0 on the glow plugs and 3. something on the injectors just search on the stickies.
Replaced injector and injector cup. I was told that when a injector tip breaks off, it always puts a hole in the piston. Although I don’t have any fuel in the oil after I changed it.
When the injector tip broke off I had flames coming out of the exhaust and the o rings on the injector burnt off and that’s where all the fuel came from.
After the oil change and replacing the injector and injector cup I have no diesel in the oil.
My question is if the piston had a hole in it, wouldn’t diesel get in the oil?
Wouldn’t this be more of a head gasket being blown?
