Got a pic to share of the 68? I had a 65 and a 75 dent side, but never a bump side.

brakes have been recently change. And I even replaced the glow plugs and 2 new batteries because this winter is going to be cold here and it’s been years since she has had new ones. And okay I’ll use fuel additives! Never thought of that before. And no I don’t. I don’t have a smart phone. But I will have a photo next weekend cuz my wife is going with me. It’s red. And in decent condition. About 6/7 out of ten depending on your perspective. I prefer something I can give a little TLC to anyways. And nice! I always always wanted an original 65 mustang. But that’s a couple years down the road haha. Thanks for the tips!

And i say check the jack's height, because my first flat was less than a month after i bought the truck, and the dealer included jack ran out of travel 1/4" shy of reaching the lowest part of the axle on my stock height 4x4 when i was in Mexico

I have a 4 ton currently as well, haven’t had to use it for my truck just my wifes car so haven’t tested the full potential of it. I think my neighbor down the road has a stronger jack. I’ll look into it! Thanks for the tip!

As much of a ****pile as my Ford has been, it’s only left me stranded once in 30k miles, but things do break on the road.

Take tools and a few spare parts. I wouldn’t make a trip like that without AAA premium or a lot of know how and the right tools.

One thing is for sure, the 7.3 is cheaper and easier to repair that any newer diesel. Probably less likely to break as well, at least the motor itself. Most of my problems have been with the truck/driveline.

One more thing to think about on your return trip, if you should take the southern route home and the weather gets cold up north, make sure your fuel is prepared for cold weather, if you unplug your fuel bowl heater like someone mentioned you could be setting yourself up for some issues.

Jmo

fyi, I towed a trailer to Spokane Washington and back from Minnesota this summer with my 2000 Excursion, it has 326’xxx miles on it, no problems!
i haven’t unplugged my bowl heater or even replaced yet and the original owner hasn’t done anything either. But now I’m kinda on the fence about it. Cuz my buddy has a 7.3 as well and his doesn’t have a BH and his truck is just fine. And our trucks have been Iowa trucks since the factory. So I guess I’ll just research into that subject.. but thanks for the tip!and the excursions are not joke! Sounds like you’ll make it to Half a million miles easily ! How was that trip? Sounds like a beautiful route.
