Removing my turbo, I pulled the hose coming from the degas bottle off the nipple on the intake an coolant came out under a little pressure, like a water fountain. It's never done that before.
That's right above the outlet to the EGR cooler that I just installed the blocking plate Jack made. I'd also been running the motor just a few minutes prior, whereas I don't recall pulling it so soon after running before.
Is that normal, or does the blocking plate change how the coolant drains down?
The plate and plug are in the exhaust pathway, which is completely separate from the coolant pathway, although they share the two components, intake manifold, and EGR cooler.
Wow. I thought air went through the turbo front to back. Thanks. Still not quite clear how all that works; but for now, I just need to know whether it's OK that coolant shoots out that nipple. Obviously, coolant travels through there to the degas, but I've taken that hose off a dozen times before without coolant squirting out.
