can anybody help with decoding a vin number F61KVCG1019 212 F618 BODYAA8 TRANS3A 17900GVWR DSO?7580818 This is an old uhaul truck thanks for any help

F61 = F600 2WD (gas).

K = Verify this VIN engine code, K is a 477 4V V8, but it was not installed in F600/700's.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

CG1019 = 1978.

212" Wheelbase.

COLOR: Blank.*

F618 = F600 2WD (gas), 17,900 lbs. GVWR

AA8: AA = Black Vinyl // 8 = 81A Standard Cab.

3A: 3 = // A = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

AXLE code omitted.

17,900 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

758018:

75 = Phoenix AZ Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

8018 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

*No COLOR code stamped on the Warranty Plate, truck painted a non standard color, making it a Domestic Special Order.

I know that U-Hauls had special equipment, but I've never seen an F600 w/a 477 4V. It should have an FT engine (5 valve cover bolts per side), 330 2V M/D or 330 2V H/D, or possibly a 361 2V

I assume you omitted the AXLE code in error, but if the space below AXLE is blank, both the front and rear axles were Domestic Special Orders, but that would be highly unlikely.

Besides the 4 speed, does this truck have another transmission?

U Haul ordered there mid 70's F 600's with the special order 359 XD, which was a slightly modified 361 XD.

 

thanks mine had the 359 i replaced it with a 330 hd

 

does anybody no where i can get a padded dash pad for 1978 f600?

 

See post 3. Looks like quite a range of trucks, but 500s and up. Most of the time the cab parts interchange from F100 up for a certain cab style. But it looks like the larger trucks get a different dash.

Padded dash is the same: 1973/79 F500/800. Was available in black, blue, jade (green), red and saddle (brown).

I doubt that any are available NOS, I looked several years ago, no one had any.

justdashes.com located in Van Nuys CA repairs padded dashes, also reproduces them, but be prepared for "sticker shock" because they're expensive.
