Anyone know how to decode this?

This is hard to read, is it E7TE? If so, this would be 1987, but I don't know the engine size because casting numbers cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.

No idea what that means. I have the transmission and differential to decode as well. Is there a spot on the engine to verify the size? We are pretty sure it’s a 302
Ford changed the firing order of the 302 in '82, so if it is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 it is an '81. If it has the Windsor firing order, 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 it is at least an '82 or later. Also note that Ford changed the imbalance from 28 oz to 50 oz in '81, so you need to use a harmonic balancer and flywheel/flexplate with the later 50 oz imbalance. The firing order is cast into the top of the intake manifold. It looks like an '81 to me.

it’s a 302, so back to your original question about filter & oil...don’t overthink it, just get a motorcraft FL1A (or equivalent from another brand) and put 10W40 in it.
