272 engine storage question

I recently picked up a complete 272 engine out of a 57 F-100 for $100 that I plan to install in a t-bucket sometime in the future. When I bought the engine, it was disassembled down to short block configuration, and I want to reassemble it for storage so it'll be somewhat sealed up, and so I won't have a chance to lose parts. It'll be rebuilt sometime in the future. I don't have the old head gaskets or intake gaskets, and I can't see it being a good idea to mate two cast iron surfaces together bare. In this situation, would it be acceptable to make mock gaskets from paperboard (old cereal box, for instance), and apply grease to each side and then reassemble?

I basically want to preserve the engine economically until I have a chance to get it rebuild. Thanks for any ideas.

Grease on thick paper or cardboard would work. If you do that on everything with a gasket, and don't overtighten things, I think you will be good for years as long as you prevent water from getting on it, and other wise isolate it from mist, fog, etc.
