Mid-Late 70's fiberglass topper

Glad to be aboard,

Looking for any information on the High Cubed Fiberglass toppers that seemed prominent in the late 70's, early 80's. Someone told me Rockwell built these for Ford, then lost the contract. . . The roof on this cap was sort of two step afair two tiered. I'm just looking for any websites, or parts lists ( hindges, locking arms) that might shed some light on this topper.

Thanks !

Have you tried the search function here? There have been some threads on replacement parts, locks, etc suppliers here.

Apparently therre were two different types of canopys: The 2-tiered type you describe (Deluxe?) and the single-tiered ones (standard). The Owners Manuals show the differences...

I would have him call his local Ford Parts Dealer. We Have motorhaven.com and finally Godfathercustoms.com has a lot of parts check there.

Leer toppers has many, many toppers to fit 73-79 F series.

Sucking pond water here, Gents. No luck anywhere. The guy wants $50 bucks for the topper, it's oxidized, and is missing a right side support bracket for the swing-up door, think I'll go for it, it'll be a nice cover for the 73 3/4 ton Camper Special ( 65K original miles- mind you), took me 6 months to find the approprate West Coast mirrors( EBAY). Oh well, play with the Big Dogs, or stay on the porch !

G,
Alot of these topper parts are common to one another.
Home depot carries a line of replacement parts. Check them out, when you get some time.

PS Anyone of these topper sales joints will have what you need also.

Smile SALES FINAL-TOPPER @ $45.00

Men (and 352ci owners),

Just a FYI, brought the topper home last night, the topper has a Ford Sticker on the inside of the roof, it states " FORD PC-73032601" I've tried doing Google searches on that part #, to no avail.
The strut, or lift bracket, or locking door/gate thingy that holds the door/gate in the open position has the following etched in the metal area "ATWOOD Rockford, ILL." I called an Atwood RV outfit in Rockford, they say that the manf. went out of Bid-niz years ago- Anyway, kind of stoked about the cap!

G,
Your having a salmon day; swimming up stream just to get screwed and die in the end. These parts are generic! There similar across the board. Please go seek out your local topper sales buisness and get the parts you need.
Good luck,

Cool

Garvin, $50.00 is a great price price for a factory Ford topper, lots of folks on here that have them, and just might have parts that you need for yours, I know that the home supply stores may have some stuff for these toppers, but most likely not the support mechanism, and I'll tell you first hand that a generic garage door lock/latch will replace the factory one on the topper perfectly, just need to cut cut about 3/4" off the shaft.
I've got one of these great factory toppers on my '78 Supercab, and absolutely would not trade it for an aftermarket topper.
Try a classified ad for the parts you need, you'd be surprised how many folks have these toppers and parts for them.
Good Luck!
