engine year identification
Hello All,
I recently bought an 87 f150 with a 302 c.i. engine.
the man I bought it from said it was not the original engine.
Can anyone tell me how to identify what year the motor was made?

There is a casting number in the block. Lower corner behind the starter. Its 4 didgits, first 2 didgits is yr mod. D=70's E=80's, next number is the tenths didgit. E7TE would be 87. D9AZ would be 79.
