Hot coil issue

You are 100% right. I called the pertronix tech line and asked what the normal operating temperature is. He said between 180-200. I took the truck for two hot laps around the neighborhood, it did great, and didn't die. Pulled in the garage popped the hood, and the coil temp was 145. Thanks for everyone's help.
