Hello All,
I’m new to the forum and tried to research my issue but no luck.
I just purchased a 2000 F250 7.3 liter with 84,000 miles.
I have developed a rather odd noise, similar to a bad speedo cable in left side of truck. After countless hours researching I believed it was a bad waste gate actuator and associated parts.
I removed the actuator last night and it appears the wastegate is stuck. I can not get it to turn at all with my fingers or hook tool.
My question is how much pressure should it take to get wastegate to move? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I have looked everywhere.
Thank You!
The normal operation should not overextend the wastegate. When I had mine off it wasn't too hard to operate the wastegate to where it pinched/jammed on the housing. It took more than my fingers to "un-stick" it but a light tap with a hammer was more than enough to knock it loose to where it would rotate freely again.
Since the 7.3L is old not many of us venture over into this general SD forum. Even then it's not on a regular basis.
If you cruise over to the 1999-2003 7.3L forum you'll find more info and help than you'll know what to do with.
