WOW!!! thanx for the info! I think it might be a while before I do something like that. But from what I've read I'm guessing it's worth it?

1979 conversion

Hi, I've got a 1979 ford f-150 4x4 with a 351m w/ an auto tranny (blown engine) most other parts are good, and I want to do a cummins swap.I've read good things about fordcummins.com, and plan on using that conversion kit. Anyways, I have several donor pickups I will get the parts off of. One is a 1992 dodge cummins 4x4 (bad tranny), an early 90's (not quite sure on the year model) dually w/ cummins (bad tranny, several missing parts), a 70s dually ford w/ a 460. I'm planning on using the engine from the 92 4x4 and most other components, and the radiator from the 70s f series 460. What parts can I use from these vehicles, and what will I have to buy? Any suggestions?

Don't do the conversion in an F150, the trac bar and 3bolt steering box is a weeklink for that much weight. If you are only using on the road with 31s you might be alright but you will probably be replacing trac bar bushing and welding up the cracks in the frame under the steering box regularly if you are planning on lift and oversize tires. Remember you are just about doubling your weight on the front wheels with all the extra crap you need for the diesel.

you will enjoy the power though

yes I have done a cummins conversion, my own design

oh no... I thought the only difference in between the 150-250-350's in the older models (such as the 70s) was powertrain options and suspension. My mistake.
