Yeah, this game of upcharging for a bunch of stuff you don't want is for the birds. I've heard that Jeep can special order exactly the options you want (and only the options you want), it's just a matter of finding someone who knows the system and is willing to do it. A shame that more automakers won't allow you to easily build what you want, while not wasting money on stuff you don't want.

The problem is with the dealers, they are the real customers as far as the factory is concerned. The dealers buy what they can sale fastest. The don't want to order a car for you because they have to "buy it" before you pay for it. Special order cars are the last one's to "Bucked" on the line. All the other cars are all ready paid for buy the dealers bank. Your special order has to get funding before the order is approved. The dealers want you to buy what's on the lot.

You can get 4WD on a stripper Escape SE--that would come in at $26,990 plus destination, minus rebates and discounts. But like regular cab F150 XL's (at $31,990 plus destination in 4WD less rebates and discounts), you will never find one on a dealer lot

They seem confused about which vehicle will be debuted. Like you, I find it hard to believe the Bronco will be revealed over a year before availability, and we know the baby is supposed to come out first. If they are planning on using the name or branding though, it will be absolutely necessary to say some things and probably show imagery of the real Bronco at a reveal for a related Bronco-[fill-in-the-blank] model.
