mizzou the 9007 PIAA bulbs only have a retail of $145.00 Canadian they are 85 watt and perform like the a 110 watt bulb( so the package says. I bought a pair I have not put in I have heard that it is a good improvement.
Edmo I have been looking at a set of PIAA 580 series ( 5864 )
that offer a driving light and a pencil light I 'm thinking of the pencil for the way down the road visability. Did your 80 series
really improve the distance you can see ? or makes daylight where the stock high beams cover. I'm leaninig for extra distance. your pic's are good.
As of August 15, the NHTSA has really cracked down on those selling aftermarket HID conversion kits. The only HIDs that are street legal are the ones that came on a vehicle from the factory. That said, some people are still selling these kits risking a $5000 per day, per violation fine. Other than individuals on ebay selling what they have, it will be much more difficult to find HID kits, especially of high quality. I purchased a Catz 9007 dual beam HID kit a few months ago. I have been astounded at how well they actually work in the stock reflector housing. I purchased the 5200K non-tinted bulbs. The tint will drastically reduce the lumen output. The color in BMW, Audi, MB, etc. is all 4100K (may be 4300K, can't remeber verbatim). This is an extremely white light. Any color that you are seeing is coming off as a prismatic effect from the lens. All factory HIDs use the exact same color temperature bulbs. Also, the higher the kelvin, the less lumens you have. The 5200K looks extremely white in the center, to a very slight blue at the edges (extremely faint), to a nice deep indigo at the very corner. Most of this color comes from the prismatic effect. Do be aware though, if you do purchase an HID kit, there may be no replacement parts. Just FYI
