I have a 2016 F350 with Sync2 MyFordTouch system. My Bluetooth mysteriously and suddenly just completely stopped working. My phone does not find Sync. It doesn't seem to be a manufacturer problem, as I have tried with Android and Apple phones. Two of these are devices that were previously paired and worked perfectly. I have since had friends try to pair their devices with the system and received the same result. I have tried the fuse pull, the battery cable pull (left off overnight), and the master reset several times with no change. It's like the Bluetooth module went bad. Has anyone else experienced this? I have also updated the system via USB to the latest software available (I did this after it stopped working) and tried all of the methods that I listed again. I have searched for hours and while I found folks that experienced this problem, they were able to fix it using those tricks. Of course I am out of warranty too. Ha! I am hoping someone can help me out before I take it to the stealership. This is my first post here. I love reading the forums. Great Community!
Sounds like the APIM module is bad or the bluetooth antenna in the APIM is bad. The APIM requires special programming and can not be done with FORSan. A few parameters can be programmed with FORScan but not major programming.
Outside chance you can get an APIM from used parts places like LKQ and swap it out with no ill effects. You could get the "part number" off your APIM and check with LKQ or CoParts and see if they have one. You could swap it and to see if the bluetooth would connect. If not, LKQ has a 30 day return, so you might can return it for refund.
Does the other Sync functions work such as NAV voice commands or Media voice selection?
Yes, everything else is functioning as it should. I did have the clock spring go out right after warranty and it was replaced at the local stealership. The bluetooth was still functioning after that though. I did read one instance in all of my searches, where an owner's APIM needed replaced, and they told him it was going to be an $800 fix.
