Uhg! I went out this morning and finished stripping the interior firewall, pedals, column, wiring etc..... I started scraping the inside seam and began seeing daylight. Since the seam has sealant and scaly rust, and the upper cowl is falling apart, I'm going to cut out the rust and do some surgery on it. This thread is now dead. I forgot my phone this morning so I couldn't take pictures, but watch for a new thread from me called "The No Seam Firewall/Cowl Repair". I'm gonna try to make it a sticky. When I'm finished, there will be no seam to gather rust, only weld.

I might come up with some kind of cabin filter also. I'll be grabbing a better cowl cover in the wrecking yard from a 90's truck to keep crap out of the cowl, but I think a stainless steel screen under neath it would be even cooler.

Did you ever get a chance to attack that “no seam” I’m at that stage in my build that it’s time to deal with the cowl

I've tried to post a reply several times but have gotten frustrated. The website keeps freezing, maybe I'm trying to post too much at once.I will get a thread on here later tonight with pics.
