Yes!!! The corrosion was so bad the sockets just slipped with the 6 point. Went to a 9mm with 12 points, that went on a couple, but of course it slipped as well. I would have welcomed the bolts breaking off quite honestly, as long as they weren't flush!

You will find 4 blunt cut wires sticking out if the bundle that runs just below the cowling in the engine bay.
They are for your use so that you don't have to make holes to run things from the cab to the engine bay.
The other ends are in the cab near the e-break assembly. You should also find the PTO and BPTC wires
in that area. The PTO of BPTC are handy if you want to do the high idle mod.

If you want to do this just use the search tool for High Idle Mod.
It kicks the idle up when in park and foot of service brake. This helps warm up and a few other things.

I've seen this in the couple of trucks he has looked at. The wire I'm talking about is right in front of the y pipe, driver's side above the intake. I think I said that I didn't look at it from just inches away, I was standing on the ground in front of the truck while my friend held it up. I will take a pic of it tonight. Not question you Yahiko…..just want to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

Sounds like something else.
If it down by the intake it could be a few things.
One that comes to mine is the shield ground for the injector harness.
It normally goes to a bolt on the heat shield.

But lets wait for the photo and then we will know for sure.

Just a stupid person's guess and remembering where it was, I think it's the glow plug harness. My 18 yo stepson, who is a self proclaimed expert says those are only for winter. Is that correct? Again, it's just a guess based on what I've looked at online and remembering the positioning of the wires.

No, they kick in all the time at cold start, not just to get the fire going but to help with emissions. Depending on oil temp, voltage and altitude the on-time can vary.

The light or pig tail is just a Wait To Start signal.
The glow plugs can be on even after it goes out.

If that wire is a black one it more than likely is the shielding ground wire that attaches to one of the studs on the intake in the back near the Y-pipe under the FICM. it should have an eyelet end on it.

Ok, here we go. Got the truck completely back together last night, except this wire. This is all the way in the back, under the Y pipe (2nd pic). The "aluminum foil" looking wire is the plug for it. I don't think it has anything to do with glow plugs. But, I do think it has something to do with the truck not starting. Sorry, just uploaded a second pic and it dropped my original pic down. So pics are out of order. So, next question. What is this first picture? When we got the truck back together, it turned over, for 30 seconds or so, but wouldn't start. Then it wouldn't turnover. Batteries are charged. But, whatever this first pic is, it vibrates when just having the key in on position. Not all the time, but I think after the fuel pump shuts off.

Your pic is really sooty but it looks like your IPR is not plugged in. It definitely will not start without it.

This is what I would suspect if it no longer cranks. The starter probably burnt out from all the cranking. OP check that you got power to the starter. That will answer that and 87CrewDully has you covered for the no-start.

I know, I apologize for that. It's why we were doing the headers, blowing soot all in the engine compartment. Ok, this confirms what I was researching just now. The connector is, well, gone...……….here's an even sootier pic of the connector. See the two wire "prongs" just dangling?

I searched for a pic. It should look more like this. Photo courtesy of Blade35.
