Look into CVF Racing's bracket and pulley systems and then source a Saginaw pump off of a mid-70s GM 4x4 truck because the valving is better suited than a GM passenger vehicle.
Nothing wrong with the original Johnson pumps. belt squealing means excessive load on the pump, could be the pump but it's just as likely you have a steering box or steering component problem.
With the CVF kits you probably need new hoses but you might can do adapter fittings. I was getting new anyway and converting to hydraboost. My brake booster nor the Ford pump would work for me.
You will need a different hose for the borgeson/saginaw pump, the fitting is larger at the pump. Since my truck was a 78, I ordered a hose for a 78 E350 van with a 460. They had saginaw pumps from the factory and the same fitting at the steering box. You might check the specs for your year truck and cross reference it with a van of the same year. Not sure what years they used Saginaw pumps in the vans though and I'm not sure if the hose fitting at the steering box changed from 73-79. I know the pumps changed and the hose fittings at the pump changed from 77 to 78.
Or you could have someone make a hose for you. Some parts stores do that.
Also, has no one ever heard a Ford power steering pump squeal? They have a reputation for a reason. Ive heard of new ones and rebuilt ones being just as bad as the one they replaced. The saginaw is an improvement, and even necessary as part of hydroboost brake conversions.
I know it's a bit ancient, but did you ever sort out the issues with the CVF bracket and the pulleys?
I'm about to pull the trigger and I see complaint issues for both the CVF and the Borgeson brackets on an FE.
BTW- I have a 68, 390 with AC, with the cast aluminum PS bracket. I just want to figure out clearances before I take the plunge.
The Borgeson bracket is much cheaper, but I haven't seen many successful installs with AC, or not hitting the Oil filter.
