Water/Oil Sending Unit question

I have converted my 1948 Ford ;F1 w/ 226 to a 12V system. I am using Runtz on the back of my gauges. I was going to buy replacement Oil and Water sending units for my rebuild, but I was wondering if there would be a conflict with these if the new ones are 6 volts. Would that be reducing them twice or ??. Just a little confused thanks.

Sending units for stock gauges should be 6V, otherwise there would be a mis-match between the gauge and sender. If you have the originals and unless you don't trust them or know they're bad, I wouldn't replace them with an unknown quality aftermarket unit, just because. My 2c.

I do have the originals, but I did not know how to test them to decide to use them again.
