New F250 owner

I recently purchased my first diesel truck (2017 F250 KR). What oil, fuel additives, preventive maintenance, etc. should I start running? Thanks for the help!

I think it would be best to follow the owners manual.

Welcome to the club pal. The search feature is your friend. As for oil, that's like asking what the best baseball, football or hockey team is. Personal choice. There are oil threads here.

Run Motorcraft filters; oil and fuel. Air as well and you won't have warranty issues. Fuel additives are personal choice as well. Try to buy from a reputable station.

I let the truck tell me when to change, usually 7200 to 7500 miles. Changed my fuel filters at 22k, 33k miles and will change them after this oil run is up. I have 44k now. That will be an every other oil change, change fuel filters then routine for me.

Check out dieselfiltersonline.com

I dropped my trans fluid at 30k, dropped pan and filter, added two small high temp rare earth magnets to factory pan and used Mercon LV. Added appropiate amount if LubeGard Platinum to trans as well. I did transfer case as well...this was at 31k or so. Plan to do it again at 60k. Maybe keep filter then do again at 60k with filter change. We'll see. Haven't figured that out yet.

I run MC 10w30. YMMV. Read manual. Good luck.

Awesome Overkill! Thank you for a more in-depth response. As far as the manual goes I'm having to buy a new one as it did not come with the truck lol. DFO has some great stuff and plan on ordering from there.

Like Overkill states . Use motorcraft oil, fuel and air filters. They are high quality and will help avoid any possible warranty hassle. As far as oil goes. Many good choices. Motorcraft 10w-30 is excellent. I have run motorcraft10w-30, cj4 (not ck4) delo 400 5w40, and valvoline premium blue 5w40. My 6.7l likes the delo400 the best. I get no typewriter noise (a common phenomenon with some oils for the first thousand miles or so after an oil change)with it, and the oil analysis On it looks great. I change my oil about every 5000 miles or so. That works out to twice a year for me. Change my fuel filters every other oil change. But I drain the water separator every oil change, and after I go on trips with questionable fuel stations. Also I run motorcraft pm22 fuel additive for fuel pump lubrication and cetane boost.

Check online and see if you can find a PDF of the 17 manual before you buy one. I would think you will be able to find one.

Register your VIN on the Ford owner's site and you can get a PDF manual from there.
