360 carb question

I am in the market to get a new carb for my stock 360. I think I am going to stay with a 2 barrel, in the future I want to put a new manifold and headers on it, but for now, just a carb. I was thinking about getting the 500cfm holley street avenger 2bl or the 500cfm performance 2bl. Do you guys have any thoughts? Any other suggestions? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated

I'd get the headers first, but I do have a Holley street avenger on my 390 and it is great!

Is it the 500cfm 2bl?

Holley 0-80500 Carburetor (Performance 500cfm Street Avenger)

I have the Hooker long tube headers. Don't get them. Yes, they work fine, but what a pain. If I had to do it again I'd get a set of shorties that are ceramic coated or something with a better fit.

Have you tried rebuilding your stock carburetor though? It's pretty good all by itself.

Ahhh, well that could be a problem. Well i do love the Holley, but if you are on a budget I'd definitely ask around here and see if someone has a good stock carb to sell you.

It came in the box almost perfect. I used a vacuum gauge to dial it in perfectly. There are a million youtube videos about tuning them. Not really any different than anything else. If you get one get the extra stuff for the throttle setup on an FE and some return springs.

I don't, I talked to them on the phone and figured out what I needed. the return springs I got from the local auto store.

You should check out this guy's list of stuff for sale or maybe someone else on here... you might be able to get a carb, headers, and something else you are looking for less than the Holley.

They would know lol. I have a c6 so that extra part might have been for the kickdown. It has been awhile.

I'm telling you though, I'd really recommend at least asking some of the parts guys here what they have that could work for you. Someone might have the same exact Holley for sale.
