Unhappy Brake rotor with bearing hub assembly 2001 Expedition

Hello everyone, I did a friend a favor and agreed to R&R front brakes on 2001 Expedition. As I have had many years of experience maintaining my Explorer I thought I can handle this. Well, as soon as I pulled the wheel off I new new rotors were needed. after I got the caliper, pads and bracket off. I re referred to Utube videos... what the heck ?
This car ( Eddie Bauer) Expedition has rotors with bearing hubs and studs as one assembly. First question what years did Ford produce them like this. Second is it common ?
Disassembly was no problem, but she was not pleased with the cost. I , of course explained , " you are getting new brake rotors, pads, and bearings ,
Thanks in advance, YIYI

Up until the 2003 model year, the front rotors/hubs were one unit on the 2wd models. The 4wd models came as separate pieces, but the 2wd models were one piece on the fronts. So in '03 they went to a heavier duty 6-lug hub with separate rotor on all models.
