10 speed tranny worth the wait?

Depends on how you think the tranny will play out.
If you think a new HD tranny will be a top performer in year-1 and/or that the existing gold standard 6R140 is lacking in ways that a 10-speed will help ... then it's definitely worth the wait.
If you think the current 6R140 is the gold standard it's hyped to be and/or that Year-1, radically different transmissions are essentially an extended beta test ... then it's not worth the wait.
I don't know which one of those is "right." I went with option 2. For me, the 10 speed is a solution looking for a problem, the 6r140 was actually a selling point, and a 10 speed will have some kinks that will need to be worked out. Oh, and I don't like the cosmetics of the 2020s as well. Easy choice for me. But none of that is "right." Just opinion.

Reviews for the F150 show that it's not hunting for gears. And often jumps gears when shifting, going from 1st to 3rd and then to 5th, etc.
My opinion is it's going to be a game changer. However the new 2020 superduties are a step backwards in exterior appearance and the interior is in dire need of an update. IMO of course. I'll wait a few more years for the next design update.

For me, it’s the new engine with possibly 1,015+ lbs. of torque, along with the major upgrades from forged pistons, fuel system, turbo, head enhancements..everything.... that alone is worth the wait. The 10 speed, and the 5 modes to select, along with being more fuel efficient makes the perfect bonus.
NO chance I buy a 19’ and then kick myself for not waiting a few short months..
I agree, the interior status-quo approach is disappointing, but I’m not going to wait another two or three years.. That will be time to trade anyway.

I specifically went with a 2019 because I don't want any of the issues that typically pop up in the first few years of a new engine and or transmission. With the 4.30 gears, I have no issues running in 6th out on the open road. I am sure it will prove to be a great combo however, the current 6.2 / 6 Speed has been just about bullet proof with many high milers on this forum validating as such.

I drove a 2019 F150 with the 10 speed and upon starting it heard a whine from the transmission, especially when in reverse. When I drove it the dash showed it was always moving gears but I never felt it once in the truck. If I didn't have the display to show it was moving I wouldn't have known. For me the whine killed it and after research it's normal and how the transmission is made. I'm lacking specifics but I want to hear a V8 rumble and not a whine from the transmission.
I can't say the new 10 speed won't be rock solid and the same with the 7.3 but I didn't want to be the one to find out.
Oh and also BIG decision for me is I didn't want the trailer assist back up dial in the truck that will be standard in the 2020's.

Ok then...
The **** is kind of stupid for those of us who can back up, but visit a boat ramp sometime for cheap entertainment.
Ill feel safer if the guy next to my boat uses it..

I completely agree. Too much shifting for such a torque driven engine (at least for the 6.7). I had one of the new f150's as a loaner a few weeks back while my 350 was being worked on. the 10 spd in the f150 almost felt rough to me. it was constantly shifting.
I wouldn't mind having a 7th gear for a little better gas mileage while cruising on the freeway, but 10 is a lot!!
Time will tell. I'm looking forward to driving one of the 10 speeds just to see how it is.

You do realize you are saying that the truck has a **** that you can ignore and don’t have to use...and that killed your interest?

I agree visit a boat ramp, campground etc and you can watch all those people backing up that have no clue and need a dial. I feel if you need a dial you shouldn't be towing but that is me and my opinion which doesn't matter much..ha ha. To each their own is how I roll.
