1957 Marmon Herrington F-100, 1/2 ton

Hello:

i am am about to embark on a restoration of a 1957 Ford Marmon Herrington 1/2 ton and was wondering if anyone could tell me if a Cab from an F-600 is the same as the 1/2 ton cab? As well with say the rest of the sheet metal?

Thank you!

Everything is same on my 59 f350. My donor cab is f600 and other than donor is a custom cab and my original is not all parts are the same.

Thank you for input ! I was hopeful that this may be the case. I have found a rust free F-600 and was not sure if they were the same. I was told that the fenders are different than an F-100 due to the rim size of an F-600, however, I was also told that these fenders may be the same as an F-100 1/2 ton Marmon Herrington due to the fact that this truck has either 16" or 17" wheels, any thoughts?

Blueoval, as stated the cabs are pretty much the same 57-60. I can't think of anything that would be different. As stated on your other thread the hoods and fenders are different but can still be inter changed. Your 57 is a one year grill, single headlight, round blinker. A 58 is 4 headlight round blinker. Both with the shallow hood. 59 is 4 headlight, rectangle blinker, tall hood. 60 is the same with different hood openings and different grill. If you have the right combination it all bolts together. And without getting into the weeds the wheel openings vary by size. Easy way to tell is by the lip, wide or narrow. narrow lip equals wide opening. Swap the cabs, you have access to small opening 57-58 round blinker fiberglass front fenders and run the shallow hood. Easy beans. The 59-60 guys don't have access to fiberglass replacements as far as I know. Good luck

I should have mentioned the blinker is the problem when switching fenders because a portion of the blinker is at the front of the fender on 57-58. If you forget about the opening, 57-58 front fenders inter change, and 59-60 front fenders inter change. Once you get that hammered down, then move to the small or large opening. And i know it was stated in the other thread about tire size dictating the opening but I don't ever recall seeing a half ton with "factory" narrow lip wide opening front fenders. That conversation usually revolves around the f250, f350 and bigger.

Boy, Mike, that’s the only one I’ve ever seen. Wide lip fenders as normal for an F-100, and no gussets which I guess makes sense on an early conversion. I can see why you want a donor cab and front clip. Hope you’ve found that the front axle is sound and the transfer case intact. Seems the ones I’ve hauled home always seem to have issues. Stu

Very cool, only flareside 57 Mh I have ever seen. Throw a good donor cab on, some 57-58 wide lip fenders. Sort out the lower valance etc. And you'll be hi rollin. Stu, I wonder if the cab braces came along in 58. I found that big 58 mh in SC that had them? Then maybe ford picked it up in 59?

Yeah, somewhere along the line MH found cab flex was an issue and the gusset fixed it. Then Ford incorporated it on the production trucks in ‘59. Stu

Very cool truck and a great piece of Ford truck history you're saving. Reminds me of the '60 short bed 4x4 I built years ago with a factory '59 donor for parts.
