Help with rear axle twist

I have a 49 f1 with a 350 sbc th400 trans and 9" rear axle on leaf springs. It has been fine up until a couple of months ago when I noticed under hard acceleration it goes straight until it kicks up a gear or i let off quickly then it veers to the left. This has got worse over time. I have jacked the rear end up to check for any obvious breakages in mounts or shackles but cant see any thing. Is it possible a shackle bush has broken inside a hanger?? Any suggestions please.

Notwithstanding any mechanical issues, it sounds like a torque or side weight transfer thing. Frame wracking? X-members all good? Engine mounts? Rear axle wrap-up?

It 's probably a stretch, but traction bars will eliminate it. Sometimes referred to as wheel-hop but not the same. There are tons of aftermarket solutions, but first you have to determine if this is actually your problem.

curious on the outcome of this one, I am dealing with the same thing on an 81 trans am. Get on it hard or when letting up after a high rev shift and the rear of the car kicks to the side. I think it may be the new aftermarket rubber pads between the rear axle and the springs, or worn out rear leafs? Have to get it on the lift.

Ok today we found the problem..Was nothing to do with the rear axle..It turned out to be a broken front passenger side torsion bar clamp. I was so sure it felt like back end twist. Long shot but does any one in the UK know of any of these clamps in the uk. I have welded some flat bar in and drilled a hole in it to clamp it back for the time being. But not the best welder in the world. Although I think probably stronger than the original ones LOL....Its the top piece I need 2 of..

Will get back if someone else with more info does not chime in sooner.

Yes it is a Volare front clip. Sorry should have mentioned that but didnt think it was front end related when originally posted.I have found that a couple of USA stores have them but only to buy as a whole kit. If I have to buy the whole kit I will when they get them back in stock, but would prefer if I could just buy the top bit of the brackets. As the rest would go to waste as I dont think the end is removable on the volare torsion bar. and I have just replaced all bushes with poly bushes..

The piece you have shown comes off with the removal of the bolt that goes through the small end and through the torsion bar. Takes some pounding sometimes. The bolt could have sheared off which would cause the torsion bar not operate properly
