Started considering a 2017+ 6.2l, that didn't last long.

I've been ramping up to buy a 2017+ 6.7 crew cab long bed and today thought about ditching the diesel altogether and going with a 6.2l. After some helpful posts on the main forum I started looking and I cant find squat within 250 miles of me that is even close to what I'm looking for. It seems that 2017-2018 F250-F350 crew cab long bed 4x4 in a Lariat or better without a diesel are almost non existent. Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms? I don't think I am. Anyone else had this problem finding a truck?

That's why I ordered. If you have the time, it's the only way to really get exactly what you want.

very common...

most 6.2L are in the XL, and a few XLT...

high end trim packages are matched with the Diesel engine and 4x4

I have a XL, 6.2L. 2 wheel drive.. SCLB.. not easy to find.. but I did...
its an "X" fleet / lease unit... great truck.

ordering is the best way to get exactly what you want like Kry226 said. part of the issue may be where you are. i just checked my area there are Platinum and Lariat trims with 6.2s, but there are far more 6.7s. most dealers atleast around me seem to order either work truck styles XL, XLTs with some options or loaded lariats and higher with the 6.7. it seems like they push the diesel even if the person really doesnt need it.

I spent months searching for something similar and ended up ordering as well. The long bed is the issue, I would always find a ton of short bed 6.2 Lariats.

No regrets whatsoever with the ordering process. It's probably the only way you will get the 4.30 gears too, which you want.

I occasionally see the 6.2's on my local dealer lots in the lariat trim, however I've never seen one with a long bed. That would make a cool rig especially with the 4.30 gears. Unfortunately that would most likely have to be ordered though.
After being a member of this forum for a while I will surely order my next truck. That's really the only way to get everything you want.

Special ordered mine and built it exactly how I wanted it. I wanted the 4.30 Axle and they are a rare find on the dealers lots.

I don't buy brand new, ever. I just can't stomach that first depreciation. After posting this I did find one that has everything I'm looking for with only 7K miles but it's 385 miles away and has 3.73 gears. The thing I'm concerned with is I need bigger tires for the type of off road driving I do so I would need to go way lower in gearing ( high 4.0's ) to compensate and I read somewhere that the housings weren't big enough to fit those gears in. Is that true?

Edit: It was a damn 6' bed.

I have never heard of that being the case. I believe some guys on here have gone as high as 4.56 but I can't imagine needing more than that unless you're above a 40" tire.

I'm pretty sure there's guys on this forum running 4.88's, maybe someone else can chime in.

Ordered exactly what I wanted right from the start. Only difference is I wanted something on the other end of the scale. Was a simple process and didn't take as long as I thought.

2 ways..

order what you want NEW..

or plan on finding something almost what you want.. and start making changes...

Plan on a road trip as well...
fly out and drive back..
or hire a transport..

maybe when the NEW 7.3L Gas comes out ( late Fall ).. you might find something around you..
