The sharp jagged pieces of concrete are going to tumble around inside the barrel for awhile to knock down the heavy scale and rust to clean it up, then dump through the discharge chute.

Ooph, I can see why you were putting that off. Not a pleasant job
Please wear some good ear protection and good luck with it

Oh yeah. I had ear & eye protection, and a respirator. It was still loud, hot, and dusty. Took about half an hour total.

Exactly! That would be a terrible place to have a heart attack.

Boy do I feel for ya! I've been there myself. Worked in a truck salvage yard I'm my 20s and the owners bought several concrete trucks to rebuild. Some we cleaned out with jackhammers, but two had full loads when they went down. We had to resort to explosives to break those up.

Wow. I thought I had it bad when I worked at a lumber and coal delivery place in my late teens and early twenties. Sometimes I had to go with the old man than delivered coal and use a rake to pull coal away from the chute while standing in the bin. He told me to holler if the coal came too fast or backed up. Of course with him being hard of hearing and coal hurtling down the metal chute he couldn't hear me. And I would end up waist deep in pea coal! And then after work in the shower I would blow black junk out of my nose!
