Truck dialing my phone number on it’s own

Any idea what’s going on?

Got in truck today and drove away from work. Glanced at display and realized there was an active call showing (about a minute in) and it was indicating the number dialed was my cell!

Phone was in cupholder, double checked and it was still locked not on a call.

Tried hanging up on touch screen and steering wheel control and neither worked. About 3 minutes into call(as turning into dealership) it stops. Service department says can’t do anything if can’t duplicate problem so I leave. When I crank up, same thing happens so I went back in(left it running) guy says too late because no mechanic is still there.

He takes a look, says if it’s still happening in the morning stop back by.

I’m about 30k miles and this is the latest odd thing... other issues have been intermittent hood ajar indicator showing when hood is latched and alarm going off when nothing is nearby.

Hate these weird random things popping up over the last 10000 miles but even more so when almost outta warranty and then service center being unable to fix it.

I know they’re trying but it’s frustrating.

Just looking for ideas about what it could be and seeing if other folks are having similar problems...

Appreciate any help!

I had a similar issue along with a pile of other problems, ended up being the Sync APIM was bad and once replaced all was good. Hopefully your issue is that simple as well.

If your truck starts responding to the name 'Christine' then it might be time to call an 'Exorcist'

I have seen this before. Wife sent a video through iMessage and when I went to play the video, the audio came through the radio and I noticed the screen said that a phone call was active to myself. The phone must route that audio through the phone audio rather than bluetooth audio or something. Maybe you had a video app open in the background on your phone?

Mine does this all the time when watching a video on my phone. It's not actually making a call, I just think Sync isn't quite sure how to handle the audio so it handles it like a phone call.

I was on my way home tonight and mine did something similar. It’s an iPhone X and every time I hit the button to put it to sleep it would call my phone number. Weird. It’s never done it before. It also cut into my XM radio when I received an email to notify me. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. It’s a ‘19 and pretty much flawless in its first 13,000 miles. I figure it’s an odd glitch, or my phone updated software.

I’ll put my money on the APIM needs to be replaced and you’re around the mileage when they start acting weird.

The next call will be about your extended warranty.
